Restoring purchases
Updated over 5 months ago

The “Restore purchases” flow enables a user to transfer their active Apple or Google subscription to their account your app. Any user who purchased a subscription from Apple or Google in a previous, non-Treefort version of your app must restore purchases after they upgrade to your Treefort app.

How to restore purchases

Users can follow these instructions to restore their subscription after upgrading their app:

  1. Tap the account menu in the top left of the screen.

  2. Sign in or create an account.

  3. Tap “Restore purchases”.

Troubleshooting

There are several reasons the restore purchases flow may not work. Users can follow the steps below to either fix the problem themselves or gather the information needed to do deeper troubleshooting.

Apple

Users who originally purchased their subscription from Apple should follow these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap your Apple ID at the top, and tap “Subscriptions”.

  2. If an active subscription is shown and tapping “Restore purchases” in the app does not work, please email us two screenshots:

    1. A screenshot of your Apple subscription in the Settings app.

    2. A screenshot of the app menu after pressing "Restore purchases"

  3. If no active subscription is shown then you will need to identify the Apple ID that you used to purchase the subscription. This may have been on a family member’s device, with an old account, etc.

  4. Sign into your iPhone or iPad with the correct Apple ID and then tap “Restore purchases” in the app again.

  5. After restoring purchases you may switch to a different Apple ID or change devices and your subscription will continue to work.

Google

Users who originally purchased their subscription from Google should follow these steps:

  1. Open the Play Store app on your Android device and tap the profile icon in the top right. Confirm that you are signed in.

  2. Tap “Payments & subscriptions” and then tap “Subscriptions”.

  3. If an active subscription is shown and tapping “Restore purchases” in the app does not work, please email us two screenshots:

    1. A screenshot of your Google subscription in the Play Store app.

    2. A screenshot of the app menu after pressing "Restore purchases"

  4. If no active subscription is shown then you will need to identify the Google account that you used to purchase the subscription. This may have been on a family member’s device, with an old account, etc.

  5. Sign into your Android device with the correct Google account and then tap “Restore purchases” in the app again.

  6. After restoring purchases you may switch to a different Google account or change devices and your subscription will continue to work.

TestFlight

Subscriptions can't be restored from a TestFlight build of the app. If a beta tester wishes to restore their subscription then they should follow these steps:

  1. Open the TestFlight app on your iPhone or iPad and tap the app.

  2. Scroll down and tap "Stop Testing".

  3. Uninstall the app and reinstall it from the App Store.

  4. Sign into the app and tap “Restore purchases”.
