Recombee integration setup
Updated over a week ago

Recombee is a recommendation engine. It analyzes your content catalog and your audience’s interactions and uses that data to generate personalized recommendations for your audience.

Plug your Recombee account into Treefort in order to:

  • Automatically sync your content catalog from Treefort to Recombee.

  • Automatically send user interactions from Treefort to Recombee.

  • Present personalized recommendations in your app.

  • Present automated lists of trending, popular, and recent items in your app.

  • Analyze the effectiveness of your recommendations.

  • Generate recommendations for use outside your app (e.g. in a marketing email) based on your audience’s behavior in your app.

Integration setup

  1. Copy your Recombee “prod” database’s API Identifier, Private Token, and Region into the Recombee integration modal in your Treefort admin dashboard.

  2. That’s it! It may take a few minutes, but Treefort will sync your content catalog and begin sending audience interaction events to Recombee.

Recommendations on custom pages

You can display recommendations on any custom page in your app with the slider or feature module. Add one of these modules to your page and select the “Recombee” option under “Items”. You can choose one of two recommendation types:

  • Items to User - Choose this option to present content recommendations that are primarily based on the individual user. You might title a Slider with this option “Recommended for You” or “You Might Enjoy”. When combined with scenarios this option can also be used to power features like “Popular Audiobooks” or “Trending this Week”.

  • Items to Item - Choose this option to present content recommendations that are primarily based on another piece of content. You might title such a slider “Related Items” or “If You Liked X”. If you choose this option then you will also see a toggle labeled “Personalized”. Turn this on to adjust recommendations based on the individual user while still remaining relevant to the selected content. Note that this might increase your Recombee bill (see tips on managing cost).

Recommendations below content

You can display recommendations at the bottom of every content page in your app by enabling “Content Page Recommendations” under “App > Settings”.
